Nike celebrates women’s athleticism, agency and power in these ads. YES it’s “consumerist”, so the fuck what? Thank god these kinds of images sell merchandise, and not just the same old hetero-sex-yawn-parade. It shows us that this is what the modern consumer wants to see.

Okay, that being said, it’s totally unfeminist of me not to also draw your attention to working conditions in Nike factories. So, this post isn’t authorizing the purchase evily made merchandise, just consideration of how we can measure Western societal changes (or lack there of) based on advertisements.
